Psa 6:4 Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your lovingkindness.
Return to me the psalmist is stating; rescue me from the world, the flesh, and the devil. So often we need to be saved from ourselves while we are walking with Jesus. Why does He save us? Because of His lovingkindness He saves us. This word is mentioned 23 times in the Bible all referring to God. That is why He does it- because He is good; He loves us; He is kind. Some have tested Him but He is self motivated and self existent. He proves Himself by being Himself more than every other living being. Proves He is God and is lovingkindness and there is no other.
Here is what a psalmist felt after being saved: Psa 86:13 For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
Psa 25:7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O LORD.
He does not remember the sins of our youth which we committed and leave such a mark on us. We should forget, but this is what finally grows us. We can get down at our mistakes or never make them again. They temper us as we head in a different direction. To learn our lesson and take correction is invaluable. ‘Blessed is the man who can take correction.’ But He lets changes happen for His goodness sake or we would have an element of hopelessness doing the same thing over again. God is working. Watch the people on Netflix who die and visit heaven or hell and have changed lives afterward- Christian or not. They have joy, they have purpose, and hope. Even if they are unsaved God blesses them. It is lucky they even survive.
Again when we need to get saved God is there. Psa 79:8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low. Psa 79:9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.
The generational sins of which we can be free, drinking, whorring, beating our wives. The things almost handed down genetically that we learned young and could have been violently inbred into us. Through God we can get past those sins that drag us to the bottom and are only partially our fault. God won’t leave you doing evil and not wanting to. God’s Spirit of Holiness didn’t let Jesus sin and He can keep you from it too.
Eph 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
If you are wonting it, God will give you His very special gift. Just for not wanting your sin and giving your life to Jesus, He will free you. Are you kind? He is more, with the power of God to keep you and teach you. He uses our willingness to help us be enabled to live a good life. Get with Jesus, He is able and through lovingkindness help will come.
One of the bad wraps God has is that people think He is mean and cruel because of the Israelites in the desert. It is simply not true. He loves His people then and now. Through it all we learned who He is. God is Good and loving and kind. Don’t be His enemy.
